Last year's Dandenong International Chess Festival was a success. Australian Masters attracted a very strong field, and it saw FM George Xie get enough rating points to get over 2400 while FM Jesse Sales only missed out by half a point of getting an IM norm. Noble Park Chess Club also had limited time to organize the tournament. This year, however Noble Park Chess Club has a lot more time to organize the tournament which it hopes it will be as successful as last year, if not better.

HELP NEEDED ON SUNDAYS

With the second half of our 2007 Sunday coaching sessions fast approaching we need the help of one or more of our members to co-ordinate and attend our Sunday Coaching groups.

A moderate fee of $60 will be available.

The job will consist of opening up the premises at 10.30 and closing at 2.30

Record attendance of Sunday morning participants and ensure they are financial or that casual fees are paid.

Record attendance of Sunday afternoon novice attendants and ensure they are financial or that casual fees are paid.

Provide casual coaching advise to parents and visitors who come to the venue for social chess and accept and record the $5 participation fee.

Communicate with the club captain and the treasurer.

Organise small tournaments if the demand is there.

The job probably best shared between friends.

Past experience is that there is quiet time in the job and the individual may use the time to study if no other duties are occurring

Contact the club captain Gerry Hartland by phone at 9878 3163 or by email:  gerrit.hartland@bigpond.com for expressions of interest or further information.
